402 Be a mindsticker Thursday, February 1, 2007 [1] [2]
Finally, we get to bring you the "mindsticker" commercial from yesterday that never made it into the final version of the show. Sony is having some trouble with being a mindsticker, at least with the PS3. Can Sony bring back its fans by pushing the PSP to the foreground again?
403 We built our IT on piracy Friday, February 2, 2007 [3] [4]
Sing that title to the tune of "We Built This City" by Starship, and you'll get our terrible, terrible humor. Anyhow, we're lobbying our superiors to send us to Tokyo Game Show. We hear it's the new E3, and we want in! Have a good weekend!
404 Episode 404: Podcast Not Found Monday, February 5, 2007 [5] [6]
The dueling Apples have finally reached an agreement! Does this mean that soon we'll see The Beatles on iTunes? In other settlement news, Turner Broadcasting has paid the city of Boston $2 million for its Aqua Teen hijinks. Those LED signs were a little more expensive than they anticipated!
405 Steve Jobs hates DRM Tuesday, February 6, 2007 [7] [8]
From the mind behind the iPod comes a rant about DRM: Steve Jobs writes on Apple.com about his "thoughts on music." It's an essay about why they use DRM and how Apple would drop DRM in a moment if allowed by the music labels. But will the labels listen?
406 Don't walk while you rock Wednesday, February 7, 2007 [9] [10]
iPods are a hazard to our health, according to one politician: he says that you're more likely to get hit by a car in a crosswalk if you're plugged in! He also cited BlackBerrys and cell phones as dangers. Do you think that's a bit much? Or will we be safer in the long run?
407 Build a better iPhone Thursday, February 8, 2007 [11] [12]
iPhone? Call me when it's ready! The Samsung F700 is launching at 3GSM next week, and it's definitely competition for the iPhone in the looks department! We don't know when it's coming to the U.S., but it has to be before June, right? RIGHT?!
408 Wacky Wii wumors! Friday, February 9, 2007 [13] [14]
People love the Nintendo Wii so much that they're making up gadgets that would go with it! From Wii phones to Wii weights, the collection of imaginary technologies is growing. I wonder what will be the first "Wii-ality?"
409 Photoshop contest winner announced Monday, February 12, 2007 [15] [16]
Well, the votes are in! We've selected our Photoshop BOL winner, and you'll have to check it out! In news today, there's a lot going on with Internet video: MySpace has tools for filtering (are you listening, YouTube?), while Google is making deals for classic TV. Yay for Gumby!
410 Blu-ray cracked, delusional Tuesday, February 13, 2007 [17] [18]
We're not sure which came first, the cracked or the delusional. But the truth of the matter is that the HD DVD and Blu-ray encryption have been hacked, and Sony has already proclaimed their victory in the format war after outselling HD DVD--for a month. At least they're staying optimistic!
411 Daylight-killing time Wednesday, February 14, 2007 [19] [20]
It's another Y2K! Everyone run for the hills! The shifting of daylight-saving time to a much earlier-than-usual March 11 will wreak havoc on some gadgets and possibly Microsoft Outlook, too. Time to stock up the bunker.
412 Ted Stevens and the son of DOPA Thursday, February 15, 2007 [21] [22]
Why is this guy still trying to make laws for the Internet? Hasn't anyone sat him down and said, "Listen, Ted, I know you really like making laws and all, but maybe you should steer clear of the whole 'Internet' thing. Working on leash laws for moose might be more your speed."
413 Got my bionic eye on you Friday, February 16, 2007 [23] [24]
There's almost nothing cooler than bionic implants, and this new eye is right out of Star Trek! Of course, we see some room for improvement, but I suppose it'll be a while before real science catches up with the 24th century.
414 Very Sirius merger news Tuesday, February 20, 2007 [25] [26]
It's a deal-making day! XM and Sirius are planning their big merge, but will the government let it go any further? And Viacom made big news by putting some of its content on Joost, while it's been fighting to get the company's content off of YouTube. Very interesting!
415 You da Ballmer Wednesday, February 21, 2007 [27] [28]
That Steve Ballmer is one sly fox! He's keeping those Linux people on their toes by gently reminding them that he could sue at any time. Any time! You remember that...Ballmer's watching you.
416 SETI good for something Thursday, February 22, 2007 [29] [30]
SETI was put to good use this week, finding a stolen laptop thanks to the quick-thinking husband of the victim. Contrary to popular belief, the laptop was not stolen by spacemen.
417 Sony sticks it to Europe (again) Friday, February 23, 2007 [31] [32]
How come Sony is making a different version of the PS3 for Europe? Is it to make more money, or is there some other reason we haven't yet realized? Whatever it is, Sony is not being very nice.
418 Dear Steve: Send cables Monday, February 26, 2007 [33] [34]
Bad news day: Apple TV has no cables that come with it, EMI won't be going DRM-free after all, and Vista and Firefox are not playing nice. I guess everyone has a case of the Mondays.
419 No Apple TV for Tom... yet Tuesday, February 27, 2007 [35] [36]
It's day two of piling on Apple TV. Yesterday there were no cables thrown in with the unit, and today we learn that it'll be yet another month of waiting for it to show up at all! Tom is not pleased.
420 Photoshop for free Wednesday, February 28, 2007 [37] [38]
Adobe is planning to release a hosted version of Photoshop that you use online. How cool is that? We're one step closer than ever before to that virtual office. My dreams of working in my pajamas will soon be a reality!
